Avito · Russia's largest classifieds

Avito: Russia's biggest classifieds as a sales channel

Avito is one of the largest sources of demand in Russia: people come there already ready to buy. But "post a listing and wait" doesn't work here. I turn Avito into a managed sales channel: first I work out what people in your category choose for and why, then I set up the listings, the profile and the promotion.

30–40 minutes. I'll show where you lose inquiries.

What Avito is

A classifieds site that became a marketplace

Think of Avito as Craigslist, eBay and a local services directory in one app, used by tens of millions of Russians every month. People sell used cars and apartments there, but also new goods, wholesale lots, repair services, tutoring, equipment for businesses. For many categories it's the first screen a Russian buyer opens.

Who it works for

Who Avito brings customers to

If your customers ever look for what you sell on Avito, the channel is already working. The only question is whether they find you there.

Product businesses

Retail, wholesale, manufacturing: wherever people compare and choose by the listing.

Services

Repairs, construction, beauty, education, maintenance: hot "I need it now" demand.

Local business

When the customer searches "near me", by city and district.

B2B sales

Equipment, materials, wholesale: buyers look for suppliers on Avito more often than you'd think.

Real estate and cars

Categories where Avito has been the first screen of demand for years.

Not sure it's your channel?

That's the first question of the review. I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth going there.

My approach

First, why people choose. Then the listings and the budget.

Demand is born from stress: a person on Avito is solving a problem and is afraid of choosing wrong. The winner isn't the one who "boosted higher" but the one whose listing removes that fear and lands exactly on the query. So I don't start with the "promote" button.

1

Customer and offer first

What people in your category choose for and why: reasons to buy and factors of trust. Value is rarity plus usefulness, and the listing has to show both.

2

Function over form

The customer buys the solution to their task, not "a product". The title, photos and description are built around that function, not around specifications for their own sake.

3

One voice

The listing, the chat replies, the profile and the reviews must say the same thing. A mismatch means distrust, and distrust means a lost inquiry.

4

Then the technique

Listing optimization, the store profile, bids and budget. Tools only work when there's meaning underneath them.

Process

How I make Avito manageable

01

Category and competitor audit

Who is at the top of your niche on Avito, why, where your weak spots are and which sub-niches are underserved.

02

Strategy

What to promote and to whom: priority products and services, positioning against price dumping, factors of trust.

03

Listing optimization

Titles, photos, descriptions, price, specifications, written in Russian around the customer's logic of choice. The listing gets found and removes doubts.

04

Profile and store

Setting up the profile or the Avito Store, the showcase, reviews: after the click a person sees a business, not an empty page.

05

Paid promotion

I switch on promotion and manage bids and budget with intent, where it pays back.

06

Inquiry analytics

I count inquiries and cost per contact, not views. What brings customers gets strengthened; what doesn't gets switched off.

And a seventh step: scaling. What worked gets more categories, more listings and more budget, by numbers, not by feel.

Result

What you get

More real inquiries

Not views for the sake of a tick, but people ready to talk about buying.

Listings people trust

You're in the results for your queries, and the listing doesn't scare anyone off.

A manageable channel

Instead of "lucky / unlucky", it's clear what you pay for and what it brings.

Cost per contact under control

You see the price of an inquiry and where it can be lowered.

I don't publish numbers from my Avito projects yet; I don't invent metrics. Benchmarks for your category, I'll show on the review.

Formats

Ways to work

Avito audit

I take apart the category, the competitors and your listings and hand over written conclusions and a plan: what to redo and what to promote.

Setup and launch

I optimize the listings, set up the profile or store, connect and configure promotion. The channel is built and running.

Ongoing management

Promotion, bids, new listings, inquiry analytics, scaling. For those who need a flow over the long run.

I'll name a range for your category after the review. I don't quote blind.

FAQ

Common questions about Avito

Can a foreign company sell on Avito?

Listings are posted from a Russian-language account, and buyers expect a Russian-speaking seller, Russian prices and a way to receive the goods or the service in Russia. In practice that means a local presence: a Russian entity, a partner, a distributor or a representative. Whether that's already in place decides whether Avito makes sense for you, and it's one of the first questions on the review.

Is Avito right for my business?

If your customers ever look for what you sell on Avito, yes. Goods, services, local business, B2B, real estate and cars almost always work. On the review I'll tell you honestly whether it's your channel, even if the answer is "not yet".

How much does Avito promotion cost?

It's my work (audit / setup / management) plus the budget for promotion inside Avito. I'll name a range for your category after the review; I don't quote blind.

Do I need an Avito Store?

Not everyone and not right away. A store strengthens trust and gives you a showcase, but paying for it makes sense once there are well-built listings and a flow underneath it. If the listings are raw, the store won't fix them; it just adds cost. The category audit shows whether it will pay back for you.

How do I get a listing higher in Avito's results?

Position is decided by three things: the quality of the listing itself, the seller's rating and paid promotion. People usually pay for a boost first, though the listing needs fixing first. A weak listing boosted with money is simply shown to more people faster and burns the budget faster. The order is the reverse: title, photos, text and price first, promotion second.

How do I get more views on Avito?

Views come from matching how people phrase their search. The title has to match the buyer's language, not your internal product name. Then the first photo, a market price and reply speed do the work: Avito lifts sellers who answer fast. And honestly, views on their own are worth nothing. Watch inquiries, or you'll win views and end up with no leads.

How soon does Avito start bringing inquiries?

The first inquiries on properly built listings usually come within days, because a person on Avito already intends to buy. A stable flow takes a few weeks: you need to build up rating, reviews and learn which phrasings work in your category. Faster than SEO, slower than search ads.
